There are a variety of elements to consider when doing home improvements. Many construction companies and businesses in Los Angeles have decades of experience in the field.

Home improvements in Los Angeles or anywhere include major as well as minor projects. Perhaps it is upgrading the plumbing to fix leaks or prevent a water leak disaster. Home improvement is more than adding a room or remodeling a house.

Searching for experts in a variety of home improvement fields including home and garden as well as locksmiths, many are available to provide high professionalism. Find a group that provides full service or at least a variety of services. Many contractors make sure to provide many home services to their customers. When a home improvement business provides full service it allows customers to produce a relationship with one group instead of several. It helps provide a source for customers to feel comfortable calling and asking for assistance.

Look into home improvement by adding security and peace of mind with an alarm system. Remember to put locks on windows as well as doors. Considering a locksmith might not be on the minds of many when looking into home improvements. Nevertheless, there are times when it could be beneficial to a home or apartment resident. Everyone needs to have strong locks on their residence no matter if they are in a small town or big city such as Los Angeles. It isn’t a major home improvement purchase, but has many benefits. It will help keep families and possession secure, while also providing personal style. Often adding new locks or handles on the exterior and interior doors give the house a whole different look. Be sure to only give spare keys to a few trusted individuals instead of hiding it under a flowerpot.

How about landscaping? Improving the yard is one way to spruce up the home as well. Even if a house is beautiful from the curb and is obviously a well maintained home it will still be ignored if the yard is a mess.

Remember, that home improvements don’t have to be major and expensive. Create a budget and research what deals are available. Simply repainting a room or two and adding new curtains will be a small home improvement, but visually appealing. Add new furniture to create the magazine home that has always been desired.

California’s gubernatorial candidate speaks on KFI640 Aug. 5 becomes heated

KFL640’s radio hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou hosted an unscripted appearance with Meg Whitman on Aug. 5, 2010. Whitman is California’s Republican gubernatorial candidate.

Whitman spoke with the talk radio hosts during a live and heated interview. The hosts hit her with many controversial questions. Kobylt and Chiampou remarked about the candidate following the interview expressing she was evasive when providing answers as well as appearing frustrated. Whitman often turned to criticism toward Steve Poizner, her opponent from the primaries. Poizner said, through SFGate, that she, “… did not get the memo that the primary is over.”

The talk show hosts expressed they don’t care for Jerry Brown, Whitman’s Democratic opponent, but feel at least he presents a clear campaign direction. Kobylt and Chiampou added that they are unsure about her stands and they don’t approve of her approach.

The KFL640 hosts discussed State worker layoffs, Proposition 23 and immigration.

During the discussion on State worker layoffs and economic crisis the candidate explained her thoughts to the radio talk show hosts. She said even with the State’s economic situation she feels she supports laying off 40,000 State workers.

Proposition 23 or AB32 is designed to repeal the landmark climate change law in California. This is global warming initiatives are ended until the time that unemployment is at 5.5% or less in California. She is asked about her position on Proposition 23 and said she wants a year moratorium. Kobylt and Chiampou asked Whitman many times how she will vote on this issue. She told them she is undecided while leading toward not supporting Proposion 23 when the vote is on the Nov. 2, 2010 ballot.

Whitman has been reported to have an unclear stand when it comes to immigration. Kobylt and Chiampou brought up this point several times during the interview. She explained she agrees with comprehensive immigration reform without amnesty and no citizenship path. This is a contradiction as comprehensive immigration reform in the federal legislation means legal citizenship will be available for United States immigrants by the millions. Whitman continued to explain she agreed with no amnesty.

She was also asked why she supports the Arizona immigration law or Arizona SB 1070 yet commercials in Spanish are broadcasted and billboards protesting Arizona Law are located in Spanish neighborhoods. She simply explained that Arizona laws won’t work in California, but they work in Arizona.

Tuesday, one of the top BP oil execs, Rex Tillerson, admitted that they were not prepared for this type of oil spill. Tillerson was put on the spot with several US lawmakers when questioned about the spill and how he and BP were working to clean it up.

BP was not the only executive that attended that meeting. Executives from ConocoPhillips, Shell, and ExxonMobile were also there as well. The other executives in this meeting didn’t really want to get involved in the heated discussion and wanted to stay as far away as they possibly could from the oil spill off of the coast of Louisiana.

John Watson, Chief executive officer of Chevron did make the statement that this oil spill was avoidable if BP had followed the proper procedures. None of the other executives at the meeting disagreed.

The oil spill has been continuous for eight weeks now and is releasing about 40,000 gallons of oil per day. On Tuesday, there was a small fire that started on one of the containment ships and it shut down any chance of sucking up the gushing oil. Although the fire was put out. The cause of the fire was blamed on lightning. Before this happened, BP was bringing up 15,000 barrels of oil per day using equipment and ships that they had for this type of emergency. By the end of June, they plan to contain about 90% of the oil using additional lines. Whether this is even possible or not, we will have to wait and see.

Obama is still grasping at the fact that the Gulf will be restored eventually, even though millions of gallons were being released into the ocean. Is it even possible to make this assumption now after dealing with this catastrophe for such long period of time? Obama tried to assure everyone that we as a country will rise up from this disaster as well.

Obama is also trying to speed up the payments that will be made to residents who are economically affected by this oil spill. The Obama administration is going to be handling the claims process and not BP so that the payments can be distributed more quickly. They don’t want BP to have control over compensating those they have affected. It’s not certain how they are going to be compensated yet; whether they will be issued a one-time check for compensation or whether they will have an escrow fund that will compensate the victims of the BP oil leak.

The lawmakers are being demanding and ruling that BP sets up an escrow fund of at least 20 billion dollars just for the clean up and recovery from the soil. There are innocent creatures who are being taken care of if they wash up on shore alive. It’s costing money to have the right supplies and equipment to take care of this.

How is this situation affecting BP’s stock? If you are invested, you need to be ware; BP took another decrease from Fitch from “AA” to “BBB” and this is causing a huge downhill spiral in their stock values.

BP chairman, Carl – Henric Svanberg has been summoned by Obama to talk about the crisis. Hopefully, the talks can decrease and the oil spill can get under control.
